The Rust Belt is facing some serious turmoil! ARC Raiders' January Update 1.13.0 is here, and it's packed with exciting changes and challenges. But beware, Raiders, as danger lurks in the sandstorms and among the flocks of birds.
Sandstorms and Secretive Birds:
The Rust Belt is experiencing intense sandstorms, and it's not just the weather causing trouble. Mysterious flocks of birds have taken residence in Buried City, their motives unclear. These birds gather around chimneys, perhaps plotting something sinister. And if that wasn't enough, rogue Raiders are hunting ARC for sport, taking on squads alone!
New Matchmaking and Rewards:
Introducing 'Solo vs Squads', a thrilling mode for skilled players who thrive on PvP. Solo Raiders level 40+ can opt-in to face entire squads head-on, earning a 20% XP bonus regardless of victory or defeat. Additionally, a new long-term project, 'Trophy Display,' tasks players with hunting ARC for rewards, building a display case over five steps, similar to the Candleberry Project.
Bird City and New Items:
Buried City has become Bird City, with nests in chimneys and shiny trinkets to discover. This permanent map condition adds more bird traps and ziplines, intensifying rooftop combat. Two new Epic Augments and seven new quests will keep players engaged and well-equipped.
Improvements and Fixes:
This update brings numerous enhancements, including open parties, squad invite options, and various achievement and bug fixes. ARC movement has been improved, and individual ARC types have received specific adjustments. Audio, map, and UI improvements enhance the overall experience.
Controversial Changes:
But here's where it gets controversial - the update addresses cheating with a three-strike ban system. Will this be effective, or will it cause debate among the player base? Also, some players may miss the musical puzzle in Buried City, now replaced with a purchasable guitar.
Known Issues and Future Teasers:
Known issues include a missing pop-up for the 'Solo vs Squads' option and some cosmetic-related glitches. The team is also teasing future content, with no end date for the Trophy Display project and hints of more to come.
Stay tuned, Raiders, as the Rust Belt's fate hangs in the balance. Will you brave the sandstorms and uncover the birds' secrets? The choice is yours, and the adventure awaits!
